This morning, the first thing I did was switch on the microscope so it could warm up and then start taking a video of my parasites dividing. Its been 3.5 hours now and they are still going!

      For me it’s the shower!

Because we use some viruses which are quite nasty we have to shower in and out of the labs each day to make sure we’re not carrying any of the viruses outside.

When i’m in the lab I normally go and check my cells in the incubator first thing and so I too turn on the microscope first 🙂

I usually check my flies first thing — so often the first thing I turn on is the radio! I like to have company when I’m working & don’t always have anyone in the lab with me, so the radio goes on!

Then often it’s the carbon dioxide canister to anaesthetize my fruit flies & the microscope to look at them & sort them.

Though the first thing I might do is make up lots of new fly food! No equipment necessary there! 🙂
