What I like best is learning new facts about how biology works.

I study the details about how different parts of brain cells work & it’s great to figure out new facts that no one has ever known before! It’s a bit like being a detective, I think!

Right now, it has to be finding out something new that nobody else knows.

I have been working out how much mud and sand come down the Mekong River every year and studying how that will change with climate change. This is important because the Mekong Delta is home to millions of people…the sand and mud that the Mekong carries to its delta is vital to ensure that the Delta does not sink below sea-level. If it does we need to plan for it and ensure that we mitigate the effects for the people who live there.

When I was at school I liked doing the experiments and practicals – I always understood more by doing than sitting in a class room listening.

Obviously getting a great result is the best thing, but in everyday life I really like the people i work with and I love being able to work on whatever I want!
