As far as i know, there is currently no evidence that aliens exist. The main reason I think they probably do is just numbers. If there are 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 planets in the universe then it makes sense to me that life would have evolved more than once. But given how old the univerise is and how long it takes to get anywhere, unless we invent travel at the speed of light i dont know if we will ever find them.

Unless… there is a theory that life of earth came from a fallen meteor from space. If that is the case then I guess all we have to do it wait for another one carrying alien life to fall!

There is no evidence yet. But given the number of possibilities (see Clare’s reply!) then you would imagine that the chances of life, although small, exists elsewhere in the Universe. Finding evidence is key. I still think we will find basic life on Mars. Mars has water, which did flow across its surface 2 billion years ago and some of the surface had the right energy levels, chemicals and temperature to support life in the past. And the Rosetta landing on this week also opens up the chance of finding basic ingredients for life on a comet/asteroid! How cool would that be!??

There is no evidence yet…but then we haven’t really looked that hard. Some of our missions to Mars in the 60 and 70s looked directly for life on Mars (and couldn’t say conclusively either way), but all recent missions since have looked to see if Mars could have been suitable for life in the past (it was).
However in a few years time the ExoMars rover will go and directly search for life on Mars. Who knows what it will find? There’s also a mission being planned called Europa clipper, which will fly through plumes of water coming from Jupiter’s moon Europa. Europa has a huge underground ocean, maybe there’s life there.
We’re also searching for signs of life in other solar systems, looking at the atmospheres of exoplanets to see if they have any of the chemicals, like high levels of oxygen, we would associate with life. We haven’t found anything yet, but we’re getting better at it all the time.
