This is a good question but sometimes it can be very difficult to tell when an animal goes extinct.

They think that possibly the Scottish wild cat has gone extinct because it has bred so much with normal cats that there are now no pure bred wild cats left. Apparently, over 20% of all animals and plants will be extinct by 2028 meaning that while I have been typing this answer, an animal or plant has probably gone extinct forever.

      Hello there,
This is a tough one as there are many…some of which we wont even know about! The one at risk I know a lot about (and have been lucky to see) are the freshwater dolphins (called the Irrawaddy dolphins) in the Mekong River, some suggest that five of the seven sub-populations are critically endangered…mainly due to fishing nets but are also endangered due to mega-dam building programmes for hydro-power generation.

I couldn’t tell you which ones, but I’ll bet you it’s a lot of species! & probably a lot of them we’ll never have even seen or categorized scientifically!

Also quite a few types of bees are becoming extinct and we have a real problem with bee numbers because of pesticides
