• Question: how do parasites make us sick and are they already in ourer body

      So if you live in the UK, you probably don’t have any parasites. They dont normally live in the UK and we have a lot of controls in our food to make sure we dont eat them.

      But if you live in a hot country, then you can get parasites is from insect bites (like malaria or leishmanisis), or from contaminated water (like schistosomiasis) or food (like tapeworm).

      The only parasite you might have in the UK is Toxoplasma, the one I work on and my favorite! It infects 1 in 3 people in the UK but your more likely to get it when your older. But this parasite doesn’t make us sick and you would never know you were infected. Your more likely to get it if you like undercooked meat (like rare steak) or if you have cats.
