• Question: Have you ever conducted an experiment that goes right and no one has ever tried it before and if you have what does it feel like?

      Hi there,
      What a great question!
      This is the best feeling…finding something new is amazing and you can’t wait to tell people!
      I guess the funny thing is we scientists will tell people and they say “that’s nice” or something similar, because we are often not too good at explaining things and why these now findings in our new experiments are so important.

      Yes I have!

      And its great, you can never be quite sure until you have repeated it a few times, but the first excitement when you see your result makes all the failures worthwhile! And sometimes it does hit you that you are looking at something that no ones in the world has ever seen

      That’s a great question because you’re exactly describing best part of being a scientist! At least for me. 🙂

      I’m doing some new experiments right now that no one’s done before & getting very exciting results! I am so thrilled! 😀

      Hi,
      I haven’t done one yet- but I have come up with one I want to do. It need a lot of time on a space telescope, so a couple of weeks ago I wrote a proposal (basically a letter explaining my idea) to the NASA committee in charge of the telescope asking them if I can use it. Hopefully they’ll let me have a go!

      Yes I have and like the others said it’s the best part of being a scientist… coming up with an idea that you think might work and eventually seeing it work… mine didn’t work first time and took a little while to get everything right but now it works really well and we have learnt a lot from it 🙂
